    Does this work?

Playing around with another black and white wildlife. Usually they are very tough to pull off. Is the body too light and draw attention from the eye?

It is a superb pic but probably better to leave it in colour. My eyes only see the big blob of light area and has to travel around looking for the rest. Did not even notice the beautiful reflection at first.

Thanks cakey and bobo. This was a b&w exercise for me. To see what i can and can't get away with , and to get a consistant b&w conversion down pat.

In reality bobo, the same effect happens with the color version. Your eye goes to the white of the body first. Here is the color version ,for comparison, if anyone is interested.

I think my conversions are spot on now, just need to find the perfect subject for b&w.

In the new lightbox, I go for the head first whereas in the small versions it is the body in both the shots. Hmmm.

    Hi Steve,

both shots are good pictures. The effect that Bobo mentioned is stronger on the BW for my eyes. For that reason I prefer the coloured version.

Both images are beautiful but I prefer the color version with both contrasting and complimentary colors and tones. The water reflections are really gorgeous.

I like the color version better. In the B&W, my eye is drawn to the nostril
