I'm Not Sure
I found this one in a folder from a family hike this past spring. I'm not sure if I like it, but thought I'd throw it out there to get some feedback. I won't be disappointed if I have to scrap it, so let's hear it what you think!

Re: I'm Not Sure
This one too. I know I've been 'off' taking pictures of flowers and trees recently, but I just couldn't bring myself to tossing them without some feedback. Thanks for looking!

Re: I'm Not Sure
i wouldnt scrape this one. it is a good picture. I like how the light gives the top of the tree a halo effect. the only downside to me is the bottem half of the trunk isnt focussed

Re: I'm Not Sure
Yea, the focus is on the leaves behind the flower in the second one. Thanks Allen. I appreciate the comments.

Don't let us force you to scrap it. If you like it or someone else close to you does then keep it. By the way, I like it.

Re: I'm Not Sure
I too like the halo, just a thought: experiment & paste another plant over the "Out of focus" area, could improve it for your taste . I'm undecided about the second picture, there's nothing wrong with it IMO, it's perhaps the subject. :-)

Re: I'm Not Sure
Hope you don't mind this honest opinion, Andrew - there is little that can be done with either of these two.
In the first, there is an interesting effect around the top of the tree. However, there is also the constant distraction of the numerous black leafless branches, together with the expanse of out-of-focus tree trunk - the trunk is needed to convey the height of the tree, but the depth of field blur doesn't seem to work here.
In the second, it is not possible to correct either the focus on the flower, or the over-exposed petal (unless there is something in the Raw data). This image might work as a very small picture printed on a greetings card, for someone who likes flowers (but who is not a photographer!).
