Despite being a member for a year, this is my first image post. I had lost interest in photography over the past few months, and after McQs gentle prodding, I've reviewing my albums to rekindle my interest. So, here's my debut with a shot from October 2007.
Some people believe the photo should speak for itself. I am in the camp that the photo is just an excuse to tell a story. My wife and I took a 16 day rafting trip through the Grand Canyon--no phone, no electricity, no motors. I asked to be placed on shore while the group ran Hermit Rapid, one of the few rapids that caused the river guides to sweat just thinking about it. This cropped shot from my Oly E500 at 176mm eqv. shows the intense concentration on the face of our fearless trip leader, but as he was so good at his job, the passenger is displaying nothing but pure joy.
And yes, the river really was that muddy. We had to filter our drinking water everyday, and that was quite a chore.
