    Statue before skyscrapers

I took these photos in Madrid this morning. They are the same composition, but one was taken when the sun peeked through between the clouds, and cast a warm glow over the statue. It changes the character of the picture somewhat, and I wondered which you like more. Any other comments about the photos are also welcome.

    Hi Tony,

i like the light in #2 the logo on the building distracts my eye and the reflection of the logo in the window of the left building does the sam maybe the could be cloned out, i would try warming the colours a little and sharpen the image a little more, i like the composition and the perspective given by the use of a shorter focal length.

Thanks for the suggestions. I have warmed the colours and sharpened the image a bit, as well as improve the tonal range. I decided not to remove the logo or the clouds; I have mixed feelings about altering a photo that much. For now, I want to preserve the original picture, and just do colour manipulation during post-processing.

Once again, thanks for taking the time to help improve the photo.

I think that it’s a great shot, Tony.

Next time I would stand a little to the right so that the statue is in front of the windows instead of being cut in half by the line in the building. That way the large building would also be reflected more in the smaller building’s windows. I like the logos. Sky could use a few clouds. Take down the luminance on the blues and see if you can bring them out more.

This photo could use Photoshop’s perspective correction feature: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/photosho...737A9A19a.html

To me, Tony, the first image looks as though you were trying to photograph the building but the statue accidentally got in the way.

With the second one, the statue becomes the dominant point; although I would like to have seen just a fraction more of the plinth, if possible.
