    SW Scotland sunset

After a day of torrential rain and gales the sky started to clear as the sun went down.

Now, that's got to qualify as one of best first posts ever on CiC.

That's a beauty. The light is wonderful, as is the composition.

Where is that, Dave? I was down in Kirkcudbright for a few days a couple of weeks ago. This is one from that week.

Simply beautiful light on the underside of the clouds and the hills in the background - a very atmospheric picture

Lee wave; my memory is rubbish but I seem to remember you could fly soar gliders along the ridge the cloud is over. Forget I said that, I'm nuts.

It looks chilly; but I think it is supposed to

Thanks for the comments all. Sometimes you are just in the right place at the right time.

It was taken looking roughly north from a viewpoint between Dundrennan and Auchencairn on the A711, about 5 -6 miles due east of Kirkcudbright.

Aahh, got it. I was looking at that exact same view a couple, of weeks ago. Well just slightly further down the road, without that tree in the foreground.

The light was a nothing like you got here, but on those hill it was a very nice sunrise coming from just to the right of Auchencairn. I thought about putting on the 70-200 F4L, but didn't as I was on my way back from having done my shots on Balcary Bay.

Great picture, Dave! I love an image that can break the rules and still be stunning. Who likes boring old rules anyway! Nicely done.

That's true Dave but it takes more than luck to produce a great image like this.

    Cheers Dave

A great match of light, color and composition.
