    Amusing request at reunion

I was asked to do some group shots at this reunion. First one was all the participating classmates, 90 or so.
Next, was a grade school group photo followed by another, followed by a photo of the couples who had met in school and married after graduation. This was a 40th high school reunion, so these couples had hung in there.
Later on, someone came up to me and said that three people had missed one of the small group shots. Did they all have to assemble again for the picture, or could I just photograph the trio and "photoshop" them into the existing shot?

Hi George, is your question about positioning the trio or photoshop technique? If it is positioning, I would think that it depends on the placement of the folks in the original image. Can the trio be logically placed in front of (sitting perhaps), behind, or to one side of the original arrangement and still have it look reasonable? Unless all three must be together you might be able to position them at three different locations behind the original group.

That is an interesting request! Perhaps more people than I thought are aware of what photoshop can do?

Joe Public have heard that PS is a panacea for everything photographic, and indeed in many cases it is a fantastic tool, but sadly they think it can produce silk purses from sows ears at the click of a button, which is not necessarily quite the case. Time, experience and a bit of luck are needed too.

    Hi George,

I do a lot of work in Photoshop - some things are a lot easier than people think, and some are a lot harder - also the time it takes depends on the quality of the work required as well.

Having said that, generally, doing composites of people in that circumstance probably isn't one of the harder things to do.

Happy to take a quick look at it for you if it helps.
