Next image of the hummingbird series.

Even at a shutter speed of 1/640s i can't come close to freezing their wings. I'm going to need a much better lighting setup.

Lovely shot, Steve. It's amazing that they can beat their wings that fast! I'm sure you'll nail all aspects of hummingbird photography as you continue to experiment. I'm really hoping that when you do, that you'll put together a tutorial on the techniques you use to get such fantastic images!

Better lighting would also reveal more detail around the head as well, no? I like it anyway, since the blurred wings say "hummingbird"

That is a wonderful, wonderful image Steve. One of my favourites of all of your hummingbirds.

Although i know you're on a mission to freeze the wings, but I think the movement really adds to this picture.

    Keep them coming!
