    More vintage aircraft..

    More vintage aircraft..

A newly restored B-25J Mitchell warms up for its first public performance, at Paine Field, Everett, Washington. The aircraft is part of Microsoft billionaire Paul Allen´s Flying Heritage Collection. In Jan 1945, the plane was deployed to the UK, where it participated in D-day and the liberation of Europe.

Indeed they can. Very often it's better to get in close.

In the first one, above, it's a pity about the guy standing just on the other side of the aircraft below the nose gun

Tack sharp..Excellent shots-they've done a first class job restoring it.I'd have waved to that guy in the fluorescent jacket to move out of shot - sometimes the concentration is so focused and we miss these annoying distractions.

Not that he'll be able to see a starboard engine fire standing in that position ...

I was on starting duties during my time on the flightline in the airforce ... I remember being briefed on the various hand-signals, including the one for an emergency shutdown in the event of an engine fire. My sargeant said "just grab the fire extinguisher and start pointing at the engine ... the pilot will figure it out pretty quickly"!

LOL! I can't be certain but there may be another person with an extinguisher out of sight for the starboard engine. Then again, maybe this dude's asleep standing up!
