    Join me for - Lunch?

Thank you for viewing. C&C is always welcome.

I was thinking a tighter crop might work but I can't come up too far from the bottom or I cut off the whiskers.

    Frank,

I think you're right, a tighter crop might work... I think top of the ears to the bottom of the whiskers.

Also, it looks the slightest bit soft to me - what was your shutter speed on this one? (or it could just be tired eyes)

Great shot. As for cropping? Were it mine to crop maybe a whisker off the RHS. But no where else! And I didn't feel it to be 'soft.' But that is only my opinion. And as for ' Join me for lunch? ' " Hey, put that camera down. You are my lunch! "

Hi Bill, this was shot at 1/250 and F16 at 300mm so it probably should have been a faster shutter speed given the zoom and the subject was moving.

Here is the tighter crop. Looks a bit more menacing!

I think the problem was tired eyes as it looks sharp today.

1/250 should be plenty fash enough to freeze the movement.

I was actually looking at this again this morning and wondering how a tighter crop and a B&W conversion would look. I can't do it now, but might fiddle with it at home this night (if you don't beat me to it).

I haven't experimented with B&W as yet so if you have the skill, give'r a go! Thanks!

Tighter crop works for me, as does Donald's B&W conversion.

It seems strange to me without the bright whites I am used to. But then, I haven't started to learn B&W as yet. Thank you for posting, Donald.

Re: Join me for - Lunch?

    Hi Frank
Hope you don't mind me hopping into the fray? I had a quick play with your image to crop it as I suggested in my first post. I reckoned it was best to keep as much of tiger as possible and get rid of some of the RHS background. Then I had a little play with the colours and gave his fangs a slight touch up. I hope you do not object to me doing so. I am no expert in this , but you posted such a great shot. I think tigers are really rather special, and so I just had to add my two cents, okay...one cent's worth.
And at the risk of trying to swim against the tide, B&W for this just does not work for me. For me it just lessens the drama of a great shot and dulls down its impact.
As Blake, I think it was, once wrote, " Tyger, Tyger, burning bright, In the forest of the night......" And I agree. So, 'let it be,' as that fab four of mop headed insects once sang.
With apologies if I have upset anyone with my opinions on this.
    K

Aww, common Ken. What's the fun if you can't get folks that don't agree with you to think and consider other viewpoints! LOL!

The more I look at this kitty, the more I wonder what was really on his mind!

I agree entirely with the tenet of what you say. Controversy is a major stepping stone to advancement. So, I choose to disagree with them in this case. In other cases I have agreed that a change to B&W is best. Basically I was merely expressing an opinion as to what had the most appeal to me. There was no implication that my opinion should hold sway and the suggestions for B&W were wrong! The last time I tried to walk on water I damned near drowned
If you follow the post you will see that Joanne shares my preference for colour in this case. So what? Just two people expressing personal opinions. I simply tried to give some feed back as to the actual reason why I preferred colour to B&W in your post.
Take care, keep safe and keep up the good work. I enjoy viewing your work.
    Cheers

    Ken
