    The Gymnast

I make no claim that these are great or even good photography, but I love the subject matter.
I had not had this camera long and was just wandering about the yard trying it out on anything I could find when I saw this fellow alight in a tree, then followed this little display.

These were shot hand held at 676mm focal length.

He's a bit of a performer, isn't he? I think you probably need to get in a bit closer to him and use a lower F-number to blur the background some more. Welcome to CiC.

    Hi Shannon,

Thanks for your comments, these birds are very common where I live, hundreds of them in the trees around the house. They are quite characters with their antics, unfortunately they can also be quite destructive, I had to replace my TV coax cable 3 times in about five months, then I encased it in water hose, so they chewed the insulators off the antenna.

Typical example of a specie we call "Beautiful... but deadly". If you have not shown me the series of shots, I wouldn't have understood the relation of the title to the first shot, Max. Thanks for sharing.

    Rob, good advice!
Unfortunately the birds won't wait till you achieve a better shooting position. I guess Robert Browning didn't do photography.

    Thanks Jiro!

Deadly is the word if they get that beak into your finger.
