I am just a log in the turbulent waters of life

At the risk of sounding preachy again. This scene from my walk on Sunday around the water-falls seems in retrospect like a self-portrait. I am a log (ageing and covered in green slimey stuff) stranded in the turbulent waters of life. The safety of shore is not far, but is out of reach. At any moment the weak bonds that tie me to the small rock of stability will break, and I will be washed over the precipice.

Cheerful stuff, eh? My wife thinks it looks like a Cadbury Flake HERE on some cotton wool.

30 sec exposure with a 10 stop filter. Canon 5D, and 24-105mm, rubber boots, courage!... and stupidity.

I think your wife is right...while your other moving water pics, i like, this one just doesn't do it for me...I think I might have been washed over the precipice.

Rob, your wife sounds like a treasure. I imagine she does a great job of helping to keep you grounded, but if you should lose your moorings, there will be an army of fans waiting downstream with peaveys to help roll you back to shore.

I like your image, but I am partial to green slimy stuff. In fact, I cultivate it.

    Cheers,

Yep. There isn't a day that goes by that I don't think 'Thank the Lord, she's Welsh"

I had to look that one up - never heard of it before. And they are still making them. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joseph_Peavey

Hmmm, Not sure I'd want to be peavey'd - it looks painful

I can see the seed of an idea with the static log and the flowing water, but I agree, this doesn't qite work, perhaps there is too much else to look at; rocks (that don't roll), moss (not Kate), grass (probably weed), ok, I gonna stop now.

I can assure you there were no rubber gloves involved in this shot. Just rubber boots (to keep dry)
