    One of the kings

    Hey all,
Here is a kingfisher which I found resting on a tree as it was waiting to hunt. Your comments are always awaited and welcome.

    Yisehaq,

The photo doesn't appear to be displaying properly.

    Yisehaq,

I feel the shot has merit, but I think the selective color post production needs a little more work. Perhaps with the whole bird colored? Otherwise the body of the bird gets lost back into the background.

Good capture though - focus looks tack sharp right where it should be! And the tiny catchlight in the eye is perfect.

    Thanks so much Bill.
I thought by selective desaturating the background the bird will popup but as you said, it got lost into the bg. I will work on it.

Great capture! I'd like to see the original though and as Bill said, if you want to isolate the bird with colour then I think it would be better to do the whole bird.

    Please post the original!

    Thanks Tommy,
I have reprocessed a color version here. I cloned out some leaves near the bird other than the usual. I would appreciate, if you could show me what can be done with it.

I got what you ment just now. I thought the birds body was similar to the bg and not unsaturated but the now seeing the head, I got it.

    Thanks.

    Hey Yisehaq,
Going back to your first picture,I think you were on the right track as the background is very over powering.I like the selective color as well plus the location of the king is dead on.
    Great job!
    Mark.
