Latest TinyPic problems test and discussion thread

It seems to be another of those periods with many recently reporting problems using TinyPic, so this thread created so I can give it a try myself and also to attract discussion here and not clog up various other image threads.

Well, as you can see, I did succeed, but I appreciate that others are have had problems over the last 3 days or so.

All I can suggest is give it a rest and try again later.

For the record, and I don't (at this stage) think this is relevant; I was using FireFox (53.0.3).

After several successful attempts ,I again had failures attempting to post last night. I use Windows 10 which went through one of their "automatic" upgrades a few days ago: I don't know if that is relevant or not.

I experienced the problems too but uploaded without any problems from flickr - I'll probably use that as default now.

What is the procedure for uploading from Flickr? Can you please share this?

First off, Joe:- Do you have a Flickr account? If not, you would need to create one.

All the tasks about attaching a file from Flickr are about the Flickr site as opposed to this one, except the final step. I can talk you through that if required.

The other point is - Have you read this thread, in which Dave sets out all the options for getting images into the forum?

I doubt it is Joe, I am sure it will just turn out to be one of TinyPic's 'phases' of problematic/inconsistent operation that will become more reliable again in a while.

Also for the record; my Win 10 machine gets all its Auto updates, including the recent big one, the "Creator's Update". Now that did cause me an 'interaction' problem between Office 2016 (Excel in my case) and Malwarebytes, I had to upgrade to a beta version of the latter to resolve it.

I use windows 10 fully up the date and I just up loaded some photos the tinypics, But when I tried to post them on the CiC tinypics crashed. Error 404 so no luck in posting.
I did use photobucket to post some pics yesterday it worked, but it is slow.
I have not had any success trying to use Flickr as I couldn't find my way to their upload page.
Question Dave, In Tinypic, is their default size acceptable the the forum? I tend to change the default selection to Message board when posting from Tinypic.

It seems to be an intermittent and regional issue. I was able to upload and post from TinyPix a couple of hours ago where previous attempts have failed.

Don't forget that TinyPix is a USA based site and it is Memorial Day weekend there. A lot of major IT upgrades are done on local long weekends because it minimizes disruptions to the majority of users.

This image loaded at 12:45 today, but won't load now...

Thanks Donald. Yes I have a Flickr account . I will probably ?y use it for this until TintPics is sorted.

Okay Joe.

How to get an image from Flickr attached into a post on CiC.

See the first picture below



Click on that share arrow. That will bring up a dialogue box:-



Choose the size at which you want to embed the image. I always select 1024 on the longest side.

Click into the URL box and the URL will highlight. Right click on that URL and 'Copy'.

Now, go into CiC and open up the dialogue box (either replying in an existing thread or creating a new thread.

Click on that picture icon in the menu bar.





That opens up:-




Now, right click and paste the URL that you copied in Flickr into that box. Hit 'OK' and your picture should appear.

Yes, leave that at Default, as shown in the first image in this thread.

All I do is:
Click "Go Advanced" button, then click the big grey button on CiC, that opens the TinyPic dialog (as shown in the first image above).
Then I just click "Browse..." button, find the image, then click the green "Upload Now!" button, once that's happened and assuming it says "Success!" (as per image in third post), I just click in to the yellow box, be sure all the text is highlighted, then copy it to clipboard and paste in to the CiC text window.

TinyPic's "Default" means 'Original', or as uploaded, if you change it to anything else, I believe it will only get smaller - not what we want. Although obviously this means you should have downsized your image yourself (and sharpened it) before uploading.

I have just tried uploading an image to start a new thread . I have also tried to upload a cropped version into my latest started thread. Unfortunatelly both failed

I've had troubles with it yesterday and today. I did get it to work yesterday once by using a size setting other than
"Default." I deleted the post because I felt the size of the image was too small to do it justice. Thinking that I could post a higher quality image -- with dimensions acceptable to CiC in the past -- I encountered nothing but frustration. both yesterday evening and today.

Zenfolio users: If you are interested in storing photos at your Zenfolio website in a gallery that is not publicly displayed at least temporarily until TinyPic returns to normal functionality, see this thread. My only caveat about this recommendation is that my posts provided more than ample confusion as I was trying to learn how to make all of that happen. Fortunately, Dan came to my rescue in that thread, and perhaps yours too!

I, too, am still having no luck uploading from Tinypic.
