Nice image. Think I might like it better without the rubber band.

Nice colors, but flash too present, even if t allows to darken the BG.

    Hi Carol,

I don't know if you have a PP (post processing) program, but would you mind if I did a quick edit on this to show what's possible?

    Thanks, Dave

Sure Dave, I do not have a PP program yet. Thank you

    Re: " The Bateroo"

    Thanks Carol,

You may have no interest in PP at this stage, but see what you think ....

OK, here's a first edit, in which I:

Applied a slight crop from along top of frame (to remove the pale bits)
Increased the exposure and 'shadows' (to reduce the 'flash' look)
Reduced the exposure on the two beetroot bulbs (to further reduce the 'flash' look)
Didi a Despeckle filter to reduce the noise (i.e. the 'grain' in the out of focus background)
"Spot healed" away a few bits and pieces (switch between images 1 & 2 in LyteBox to see how small things (as in attention to detail) can make significant improvements)
Reduced the exposure and saturation on the rubber bands and reduced the exposure in a few other areas (switch between images 1 & 2 in LyteBox to see differences)

I spent about 5 minutes doing this.

    " The Bateroo"

Then I got carried away and spent another 10 minutes to clone out one set of bands (to reduce their impact), but this is advanced stuff that I wouldn't suggest you try too soon. I just did it because I could and I like a challenge (not that it's perfect).

    " The Bateroo"

Switch between images 2 & 3 in LyteBox to see how this helps bring the viewers attention more on the subject.

    I hope that's helpful, Dave

You are a genius Dave and I love the final result. I have a lot to learn with exciting photographic experiences ahead. I have used picnik in the past but that no longer exists. Time to consider LyteBox. All of the pics I am uploading at the moment are shot with my old Canon G7. I will upload another example tomorrow. In the near future I will be using my SLR Canon Rebel. Much appreciation and thanks Dave. Kind regards, Carol.

    No, really, I am not!

I was where you are now, back in 2007 - and thanks to the good folks here at CiC, from 2008 onwards, I have learnt how to do these things.

    Glad you like it anyway.
