    I must enunciate.

    I went birding yesterday and picked another tick. No Lord, I said a C H I C K magnet....

A juvenile Blue-faced Honeyeater - its cheeks are just starting to change from green to blue.

    A Rainbow Bee-eater

    Actually eating a bee.
    I must enunciate.

    Silver-eye.

    Striated Pardalote
    I must enunciate.

Variegated Fairy Wren - just getting his breeding plumage.

    A Yellow-tailed Black Cockatoo sulked.
    I must enunciate.

Luckily it wasn't a paralysis tick this time,

A lovely series all beautiful in different ways & skilful of you to catch them!
The Fairy Wren is a favourite, both the bird & your image of him.

That's a nice series Richard. I envy you the colours of the bird life in your neighbourhood. The Fairy Wren and the Rainbow Bee Eater are quite spectacular. For the Fairy Wren, it might be worth pulling back the highlight areas and cropping down the RHS. The RHS isn't adding much and the bird is looking into the frame so it would still hold together. Also emphasises the parallel slope of the tail feathers with the branch.

These are very nice. They are not very easy to get close to. I would be interested to know where they were.

A nice set, and having managed to collect shots of several of these (not the striated pardalote or bee-eater, or that particular honeyeater) when visiting daughter and family in Margaret River, I'd like to especially congratulate you on the one that may bypass the casual viewer of the shots - the black cockatoo. I've had enough tries to bankrupt me if I'd been using film and haven't got one that comes anywhere near this one of yours.

Thanks Tony, they were near the Pacific Harbour Golf Club along the track called Avon St. There are Azure Kingfishers on the ocean-side creeks but I have yet to get close enough to get a pic. I am getting closer to the Mangrove kingfisher though.

    Many thanks Bill,
I had a bit of luck with them about a year ago:

My favourite is the Red-tailed Black Cockatoo, not as shy as the Yellow-tailed one..

Lovely pictures. I've been trying to photograph birds and am struggling to get it right, so I'm going to school on your metadata: interesting to see that you can get such clarity with high ISOs.
