    Daisies in the wild..

Always find it difficult to shoot this kind of photo. I want to be close but where do I focus to make a shot like this work??

I sympathise with your plight......but have no answers for you. I am always trying too and never quite seem to succeed

    Two factors:

    1) What does the picture look like in your head ... before you even get the camera out? What is a great picture of this scene going to look like?

    2) Do you have the equipment that lets you get really close ... if that is what the picture looks like in your head?

For example, in relation to '2' above, this is an image made from a capture using a Tokina 11-16 wide-angle lens. The closest flowerhead was about 6 inches from the lens. I was lying flat on my stomach and the tripod legs were splayed at their widest.

When you ask 'Where do I focus?', are you meaning that, or are you asking about composition and where how do you get a focal point; i.e. the main point of interest in the scene?
