I think that probably accounts for why we see so many of them squashed on the roads. They are fearless.
I suspect they just like sunning themselves on the hot road, I am guilty of squishing two of them between Kiama and Jervis Bay this Summer. They don't make the pop sound birds do when they get squished though...

Murderer! I have popped a few birds myself going to Wagga Wagga...they are just too slow to fly and I think they commit mass suicide. I don't know if I was able to squizz those lizards. Hope not...
