I have been impressed by the spider pictures posted recently, and I thought I would submit the only spider picture I have taken in recent years for consideration. This was taken on St Mary's, Isles of Scilly. It was in a hedge, conveniently at eye level. This species, Pisauria mirabilis, weaves a more-or-less horizontal web and then sits on top of it awaiting its prey to walk across. I have included some of this web, but unfortunately it is not in focus. If you look at the head close up, it seems to be gazing heavenward, praying for dinner to arrive.
Comment welcome.
