Tetons with Lenticular Clouds
For most of the day lenticular clouds have been forming over the Tetons. I thought I would share this photo I took this morning. Look at it in the biggest format possible.

Just having the opportunity to capture that would be hugely satisfying. Being able to do it well is the icing on the cake!
Nature is indeed the most amazing and wonderous thing.

Re: Tetons with Lenticular Clouds
It's amazing that the central mountain peak seems to be spewing the cloud formation. Great eye for catching that!

Re: Tetons with Lenticular Clouds
This is a splendid photo. Is there actually a connection between the cloud and the mountain peek? Or did the cloud just happen to line up with it that way? There is a lovely color scheme in this shot. Is it a stitched panorama? To me, as uploaded, it looks like it could stand just a wee bit stronger sharpening.

Re: Tetons with Lenticular Clouds
If everything was darker it would look like some sort of scene from Mordor. Incredible shot. As Donald said it would be awesome just to see it much less have an opportunity to shoot it. Well done.

Re: Tetons with Lenticular Clouds
Thanks to all of you for the feedback. You are very kind. Donald, I knew when I saw it developing that it had the potential of being something extra special. I got about 10 photos of the clouds in various stages. It was constantly changing and I am having trouble choosing a favorite.
Nick, It is common to have lenticular clouds over the Tetons, but these were extra special. The temperature and wind conditions were just right to have the clouds form at about 14,000 ft., about the height of the Grand Teton. The wind was disrupting the cloud formation and gave the appearance that the Grand was spewing clouds. For a more complete explanation of lenticular cloud formation go to: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lenticular_cloud
I took this photo with a wide angle lens (35mm) and then cropped the image to a 3 x 1 ratio.
Today the tetons are cloudless and beautiful, but not as exciting as yesterday.
