I was shuffling through my spider photos and came across some Black Widow photos I took when I first started shooting 3 years ago or so. Figured I'd share them. This sucker was under my mailbox and I found an even bigger one on the front seat of my car. Word to the wise, leave your windows up in Arizona.

Just Googled this ZaK. More venomous than a Rattle Snake pound for pound. Glad they're not in my back yard. Nice images though.

Mailbox, I'm fine with that. Under the seat of my car now that starts to creep me out. Nothing really worries me but if I can't see it coming

Thanks. Although, it wasn't UNDER the seat of my car it built a web between the steering wheel and the seat and was dangling between the seat and wheel when I found it.....That should be a little creepier to imagine but true! Originally Posted by gregj1763

Unfortunately, when I took these pictures a few years ago I didn't have Macro lenses yet. I'll go find one sometime in the next few weeks/days and get a picture of it with my prime macro lens and flashes. You'll get to see the fangs and finer details. Hi Kak, I expect that a flash is what is giving the web it's sparkle but if so then it is also what is casting the shadows.

We have a similar species here in Aus called the Redback which are also quite dangerous.

I'm about 5 feet away with a 300mm zoom lens and holding the flashlight on the Spider with my left hand while shooting with the right....It was a juggle for sure.
