I think you have a cross between a bee, parrot and a spider there Brian

Beautiful!
Gorgeous detail, lovely light and it's all about the bug set perched on a beautifully green leaf.
No mist needed! It would take away from the beauty of your image of the critter. Albeit it would likely be a very cool image with the critter, just it's head peeking out from the fog. I can envision such an image, and perhaps that is something you can manage to set up in a makeshift outside studio.
Hi Brian,
I was kidding you...
I think that creating mist/fog would be incredibly hard to do. Perhaps on a steamy, humid morning right after a heavy rainfall if you spotted a bug on a misty leaf or tree... and even that sounds incredibly hard to do.
Creating a more varied habitat sounds like a wonderful, and very practical and economical idea.
Hi Brian. #2 is much sharper than #1. Well done.
WOW! wish i could shoot this sharp
All it takes is practice (and luck) I used my Fujifilm Finepix S4200 on Aperture priority with the macro option. I had the camera on our tripod but was using it as a monopod. It was a pretty good shot but what made it quite good was the post processing. Trust me if you have the time and the patience you can take shots like this. All it takes is a reasonable camera and a lot of practice.

Really well done![]()
