Rediscovering older plug-ins

I used to have a plug-in called the Droste effect in CS 5, Sadly, it's no longer included in CS 6 - at least I haven't been able to find it. It was a really fun time-waster!
Here is an image that was done a couple of years ago. Just for the fun of it.
Found it while going through a lot of older pictures.

I like this image... I'd love to learn how to work with the Droste Effect. I am going to research it on Google...

I sometimes enjoy going all-out on an image which I don't really like that much, as shot. Like I did with this one.



Apparently Droste Effect filter requires Pixelbender to function and Adobe stopped supporting Pixelbender in CS6.

That was beautiful, Kris...I still have CS5 even though I have CS6 but I have not used that effect at all as I have lots of one-used then forgotten plug-ins and brushes, name it... ...me have it...I will try to look for it and see what it can do to my flower photos too...

Izzie, if you read Richard's post, you will realize that it requires the Pixelbender toolkit - (here is a link). The download is free.
And her is a link to a quick tutorial.
I sill have the Pixelbender Toolkit file and tried to install it in CS6 - doesn't work.
If I really want to play with it again, I need to use my daughter's computer - she hasn't upgraded to CS 6.

Oh, and BTW- I have about 10 CD's filled with actions, brushes and filters. Some of them are dated as far back as 1998.
I really need to do some serious clean-up, most filters won't work in the newer PS versions anyway.
I still have PS7 on my desktop, just because it supports a few older filters.
It peacefully co-exists with CS6.

The oil painting filter is the only leftover from Pixelbender I guess. Just wondering why Adobe dropped it.
I like the picture you posted - I assume this was done with the Oil Painting filter?

Thanks for the links Kris...me too -- I still have Photoshop 7 in my desktop and CS4. Here in my laptop I have CS5 and 6. A friend of ours advised me to keep some old software that still runs in Windows 7 because I have old peripherals that do not run in newer windows so if I have to use them, I can. Old habits never die and storage is so cheap nowadays so I don't get rid of my older Photoshop just because there is a new one and tend to keep the older version until I get used to it.

Actually this was one of the presets from OnOne, Perfect Photo Suite, Perfect Efex, Texture Filter.

When I was given the Perfect Photo Suite 8, after having purchased Perfect Photo Suite 7, I kept the Version 7 on my computer; just in case there was something that I liked about V.7 that was not included in V.8....

Amen to that. I started using Photoshop since version 4. The oldest I still have is PS 5.5. Not currently installed anywhere.

Take old bugs out - put new bugs in!

I have the free Perfect effects version 4, and downloaded the Beta version of Perfect photosuite 8. Let the beta run its course, but never got around to buying it, although I did like it.
Might still do it - I love to play with filters and actions. Maybe I'll grow up one day.....
