    C & C welcomed

Looks like the heron is watching over the ducks.

It is a nice scene and a good reflection. However the relationship between the supervising heron and the ducks might look a little stronger if some of the heron reflection was cropped out. I know it seems a pity but at the moment the heron and its reflection are the dominant subject. If you do try a crop you could rotate it a little so the ripples look a bit more level.

It is one of those scenes that as a photographer it is often difficult sort out the best approach.

Agree with L/Paul, however, for me the shot is all about the heron, I hardly noticed the ducks. If you want to include the ducks as subject I think you need to process the image to give them equal prominence with the heron.

Nice image though and I think the reflections are great.

I agree...I did not notice the ducks at first either. Dang! it's hard being late for the party...everything that need to be said had already been said...

Curious thing. Artists even exceedingly famous ones leave bits and pieces around for people ,to notice after they have seen the main subject. Photographers seldom think like that especially when judging shots.

Personally I would look at things the other way round - how can I make the heron more eye smacking. The alternative though would be to make both the ducks and the heron more eye smacking but I still feel that the heron needs to be more noticeable.

I wonder if a different shooting angle that brings the ducks "closer" to the heron might suit the subject better and result in a more portrait shaped crop plus holding things together in a better visual fashion..

Thank you all for your feedback. The focus of the pic was originally the heron. I must confess that I too saw the ducks later.
John, I wish there had been another angle, however, I was on the edge of the lake and another angle would have meant going for a swim, and it is way to cold for that right now
Given a choice I would prefer to keep the reflection than the ducks so here is a quick recrop of the original. I attempted to fill in some of the grass on the left behind the heron because there was an ugly area there.

I've been dying to try a liquid rescale on something Rita so had a go. Here is a different angle for you!

I found masking the area to remove gave the best result. I have also slightly botched a minor repair it definitely needed after rescaling.

    Colour/contrast a sort of Constable effect - I think.

Rita I liked the original, cause I found the ducks a pleasant surprise after the impact of the heron.

John, I like it much better than my original....thank you, I find it helps when I see the difference. I am not all that familiar with masking yet, still learning all of the pp.
