    My first for 2014

Welcome to 2014 everyone. If you partied hope it was a good one, if you didn't hope it was a nice quiet night

Here is my first submission for the new year, a shot I took a couple of days ago.
These exposed tree roots on the beach caught my eye. I found their sharp, twisted claw like features an interesting contrast against the softness of the out of focus background and cloudy sky.
Think I prefer the black and white conversion
    C & C welcome.
    Cheers, Greg

The B&W version certainly has more of a desolate look to the scene.

Greg...what I saw are three images from the first root -- the first face at the top has his arms reaching out to something...it has a complete feature of eyes, nose and mouth and an arm...; the second one in the middle is like a mouse and the third one at the bottom looks like a face of an elephant with a trunk...thinking along those lines, the root at the right side looks like 'someone' diving to the sand very quickly.

Dismissing my thoughts... I think it is a good shot.

Geoff, it was pretty rough weather that day and rained about 15 minutes later so desolate was a fair description, probably why I lean towards the B&W version.

Izzie, you obviously studied the photo for a while to come up with what you saw in there.
I've heard any image that holds the viewers attention for 30 seconds or more is OK so thanks for finding it interesting

    Cheers, Greg
