    Rush Hour

Hi, going forward on my photography venture I stopped and clicked another shot. Can you please review it and let me know what exactly is missing for it to make it much better?

It is my first attempt to capture Traffic Trails. It was shot at India Gate, New Delhi, India. In our city you can change lanes any time. lol

I deliberately tried to capture the bus red lights too (Upper one crossing india gate) and luckily I was able to capture the red light of a VIP car (Center thin red light divided into parts).

Here are 2 versions of the image.
    1. Slightly longer version
    2. Cropped version.

Please suggest or share your views which cropped image is better.

    Thank You

PS: I'm more inclined towards the 2nd crop.

    1. Slightly Longer Version
    Rush Hour

    2. Cropped Version

You've made traffic beautiful! I think I prefer the 2nd crop because my eyes are drawn more to the beautifully lit arched structure.

    Raj,

Great angle, nice detail on the foliage leading the eyes towards the gate. I'd delete the watermark or lose it in the light trails. It distracts from the rest of the image.

Thanks a lot for the review. I will surely remove the watermark.

Nice image, interesting and attractive. I'm with Christina - the second is more compelling. You may want to ask yourself (and tell us) what the object/subject was when you took the shot. That might guide the crop.

Maybe even more cropping would be even better? I'd crop down ridiculously on you PP software and then expand the crop til the point where you think you've found the sweet spot for this one.. it might be tighter than #2.

Thanks a lot for the review and the comments. I wanted to show the rush hour in front of India Gate. I will surely try to crop more.

Interesting shot Raj. Like many of the others I also prefer the cropped version (rule of thirds coming into play here). I find that the image really needs the painted lines on the road that you have captured, otherwise there would be nothing to balance out that side of the image.

    Hi Raj,

I like #2 better, too. Might I suggest a further crop? For example, a bit off the bottom and a bit off the right to bring the light streaks more strongly into the lower left corner. The viewer's eye usually begins at the lower left and follows the diagonals into the scene . . .

    Just a suggestion.

    Thanks for sharing.

    Raj,
I like the crop of #2 but in #1 the blacks appear blacker and the colors appear more 'robust'. So I would say #1 with the #2 crop.

Thanks for the review and the suggestion. I can see the change in the colors and contrast in the resized images. I havnt done any change in the colors or contrast except for the crop. Can you please confirm in the full size image by clicking on them, if you see any difference in the colors and contrast? May be i missed to change the vibrance or contrast.

    Have a guess :)

    Re: Rush Hour

    Hi Raj,

    My suggestion is to take a step back and have a think about the shot first;

    - Is there a better composition to be found - perhaps one where the traffic flow compliments the image?

    - Would less traffic be better?

Here's a couple of mine to illustrate how I've addressed those two points:

Thank you for the review and the suggestion It was my first attempt to get the trails. Will study the images and work on the 2 way traffic with better composition.

    Re: Rush Hour

Raj, I really want to love this image and I know that your goal was to keep the red streaks in front of the arch but I would love to see the lower streaks with a clear view of the arch (minus the higher red streaks).

I think that may be what Colin is alluding to in his post but I'm not sure.
