Travel Tripod With These Features....

Dear Folks,

I have a Monfrotto tripod PROB190X. It is a great tripod for me and has the capability to extend the center column horizontally. The only problem is that it is a bit too large for travel. Do any smaller tripods exist with this "horizontal" capability but also one that folds down smaller than my PROB190x?

Do you specifically need the horizontal centre column or are you just looking for something which will get you closer to the ground?

For lightweight easy carry use, I have a Velbon Luxi L tripod which has a two piece central column. When using just the shorter option I get get down to 8 ins from ground level.

And it folds up to 14 ins which fits inside my backpack.

Strongly constructed, although not quite up to the Manfrotto specifications

Try removing the head from the tripod that should take about 5 to 6 inches off the overall lenght.

I had this tripod and sold it because of its size and weight.

I think the Manfrotto 190 series has a model with the centre pole that extends horizontally.
