    Bright enough?

I could not decide how to crop this one, I want it to have the metal parts around it to be sort of a frame but on the other hand I know it looks too much:

FWIW, I think this is very good in terms of lighting, sharpness, tones, and noise. The only thing is that to me the back of the lady is too dark, and it blends with the corner of the picture. I personally like to see it separate from the background and corner of the picture.

Also, not sure if the guy is supposed to look at the camera. To me they should either look at the camera or look away from it. In this one, the lady can look where she is looking, and the guy could look at her belly.

    Thank you Alis,
As you may understand she is my daughter...
I do have many of them both during this small session of shots. Indeed I do have some images but I have chosen this one because he is looking at me and she is looking through the window.
Her background is dark and I mean it, I mean it was on purpous. I wanted the light to shine on them mainly from the window.

Thank you Alis for your comment. It is most welcome As always.

I think he should be looking at the camera as he wants to share his happiness with others? Perhaps she could be staring down at her belly? So many options! Nice shot though.

You know Rob, I don't plan the shots.
I told them to stay in that position. We were laughting at the same time. My wife was around also shooting.
We were having fun and they were asking me where to look at.
I was telling them I don't know. Then they looked a way I liked and I told them to stop and look on that direction because it was a good option.
And I was shooting at the same time.
I was also using the flash but as I was shooting too often it had no time to recycle. So, some shots were with flash and others not.
I was not very happy with this work I have done and I did it again but in color.
Can you see any difference apart the color ?
I have many other shots... My wife has one - I am afraid it will not be shown, ever - which is great with her in white shirt on all the belly at sight.
Thank you Rob for your comment.

The group photo is one my grand son will look at and laugh because it has a story.
The black cat was trying to run away and my son in law took him by the tail.
We all laughed while the timer was on and the photo was taken.
It is not a great photo but it is one with a story and a fun one.

    Re: Capture Sharpening

hello everyone! I would like to share some of noob photos for this thread.

1.this is my friend Justine, we wanted to do some portraits of her with a theme of "TOYS"
    2. since she looks like a modern chinese doll. I had her climb upon an infused cabinet and framed the pictures
as if she is but a small doll shelved.
    3. I added some textures on the wall to make it a bit colorful .

    Re: Capture Sharpening

Thank you Richard Amora for posting your great picture here.
Where did you get that Amora name ? Portuguese, Spanish ?

Yor image is very nice and interesting. You have done - as far as I can understand - a good work on Photoshop.
I may not like that yellow spot you have there but globaly it is a great picture.

May be you could explore a bit more the doll concept and make something bolder... and show us if you please.

    Re: Capture Sharpening

thank you very much Antonio. I believe Amora is of Spanish descent as foretold by my father, but I am in every inch of my blood a Filipino sir.

your suggestions are very much revealing sir and i would love to do that concept soon! and perhaps on a different model too. Justine's general outlook and expression may not be suitable for such a shoot.

then again i would love to share another photo of a non square..

    This is claire

For this funshoot we wanted to create a juxtaposed portrait. Beauty and glamour amongst objects commonly associated with brawn and muscles.

    best regards too!

Here is my first selfportrait on the forums.

    F/11.0 . 1/200s . ISO 400 . 26 mm

I tried an high key effect by flashing (not directely) into the mirror with diffused flash light.
Personally I like the coloureffect in the lens and I like how this matches the T-shirt colours. What do you think?

PS: I might have cleaned my camera before shooting

    Hi Jeroen,

Is it worth a lateral flip to get the writing readable?
    Just a thought.

There's something brown behind your head on the right of the image that is distracting, probably worth cloning that out.

    Interesting shot, cheers,

I like the colour one of your daughter and son-in-law, the exposure and lit patch on wall, but I do tend to agree with Ali about the merging to black behind your daughter - it sticks her to the room, there is no separation.

In the family shot, your daughter's expression looks like she has some sympathy for the cat
A nice shot though, and it has a story.

    Cheers,

Re: NON Square Cropped Portraits - (nSCP's) - please post them here

Hi, it's my first time posting a pic here. Can someone please tell me how to post my pic? I use flickr so does that mean I have to use the direct link tool which will only show the link to my picture vs posting it directly in this thread?

    Thanks!

    Chris
