Been a long time since I used this site would like to again but cant find competitions. Mini or otherwise. To post stuff. Help. Thank you.

The competitions have not been active since Donald stepped down from the Forum a while ago.
Perhaps this is something that could be revived. Any thoughts out there?

One reason that we did not pick up the competitions after Donald left was a lack of interest among the membership. There were very, very few people entering images.

It might be something that could be considered if people become more active and the demand is there. That is not what we are seeing right now.

In the final years of the competitions, it seemed to me that there were two largely nonoverlapping groups: people who posted to the competitions, and people who posted to the discussion forums. I'm guessing that not many of the dwindling number of people in the latter group (which includes me) would be interested in participating in competitions unless the rules encouraged comments rather than just votes. (I just dropped my membership in a very large and active photo club because their competitions were all about rankings and entailed very little in the way of commentary, let alone informative commentary.)

Dan, I came here many years ago from an overly competitive photo site which was obsessed with scoring points and nobody took you seriously unless you had a portfolio of nudes from professional models. I take photos for many reasons but scoring more points than other members is not one of them.

Maybe a friendly easy going non competitive forum would be possible but the previous competitions required a lot of effort by an organiser. Any volunteers?

Incidentally, when I voted in the previous competitions, my choice never won. So could I be persuaded to vote for someone else?
