    2026 Project 52 - Weekly photos from Geoff F - Part 3

Continuing with attempting to post at least one image every week. No specific theme just scenes and events from the general area where I live. The previous part 2 is here

    2026 Project 52 - Weekly photos from Geoff F

Week 27 - Salcombe from Snapes Point We are experiencing a period of hot and 'sticky' weather which gives a rather harsh light that isn't good for landscape photography. But probably just normal conditions for many countries.

Beautiful collection of scenes. The hazy summer atmosphere really shows how heat and humidity can flatten contrast in landscape shots, yet it also gives the countryside a soft, almost painterly look. Which location around Salcombe do you find most rewarding to photograph in different seasons?

I spend most of the sunny days recording insects ranging from the coast to some woods about 10 miles inland and usually carry a general purpose lens as well as my macro gear. So when there aren't many insects around I look for landscapes etc from where ever I happen to be.

Week 29 - The Coast Path from where I was recording insects. Still a harsh light and the wrong angle.

7D with Canon 24-105 lens 1/320 F11 Iso 250 merge of two bracketed exposures,

Looking in the opposite direction gives another 'big sky' image but with a softer light angle

One of the beasts which I photographed today. Hornet Robberfly. A magnificent creature which is nearly 50 mm long.

I was shooting between dry grass stems and wanted to show the prey so that meant the tail area is a bit out of focus.

Week 30 - More from the coast path area but slightly more inland. Where I was recording insects.

This path has been created alongside a rough stony road to separate walkers from traffic.

Looking 180 degrees from the previous image, with increasing clouds and an old barn.

These are some beauty shots from your walk, eh! The bracketed exposures did a fantastic job handling the contrast across that dry landscape.
1st image Highlights the fenced-off pedestrian path keeping you safe from the rough road traffic.
2nd image Perfectly captures the Coast Path shortcut under a completely clear blue sky.
3rd image A great 180-degree turnaround showing the old stone barn just as those heavier clouds start rolling in.

Week 31 - Looking towards Dartmoor. Still excessively hot with a poor photographic light but I had a go anyway. Just a few scattered clouds in an otherwise blue sky.

Week 31 - Same scene but a totally different day. Roughly similar angle to the previous image - looking towards Dartmoor.

Bowcombe Creek & West Charleton from Snapes Point path. 7D with Tamron 24-70 lens. Merge of two bracketed exposures 1/320 F11 Iso 250. I am struggling to get good clarity with these long distance landscapes. Maybe I need to use a tripod? Or just wait for a period of clear air.

    And a slightly different angle
