Re: Project 52 week 17
Hi Bill. I wouldn't mind seeing the color versions of your black and white images. I prefer the color versions that you posted.
Don't sweat the every 7-day thingy. I think I skipped a week that hasn't even arrived yet. Keeping it flexible and fun.

Re: Project 52 week 17
That looks as though it was a poor light day so I wonder if your problem shots were mostly due to a low shutter speed with a wide open aperture which gave a shallow focus depth?
As you are aware, I treat the weekly challenge rather informally when it comes to actual uploading of weekly shots. It should be a bit of fun not a chore which must be strictly observed.

Re: Project 52 week 17
Thanks Geoff.
It was indeed a bit overcast and damp but not out and out rain (quite pleasant for up here at this time of year
). These were shot on manual shutter and aperture with auto ISO which is my go-to set up for most things. In this case most were 1/250s, f/8 and ISO around 1600. I probably should have gone to 1/500 and left the aperture at f/8 - I've shot the Fuji at well above 1600 without too many issues.
Any way, I've ordered a Fuji 70-300 zoom (105 to 450 FF equivalent) which if it lives up to the reviews, and more importantly the experiences of a good friend and fellow Fuji shooter, should do the trick for longer reach (and also close up) shots.
PS: I'm still not convinced about the people detect and am going to go back to single point focus next shoot, even though that would break the golden rule of only change one thing at a time

Re: Project 52 week 17
70-300 is a very useful lens size. At one time I used the Canon version.
It is certainly possible that an auto people selection may work well with stationary subjects but would easily become confused by fast action sports scenes. I would consider 1/500 to be the minimum shutter speed for that sort of subject.
