My name is Ratnadeep... I am from India... I have started using this site after being advised by one of my friend. This site helped me to understand a lot about photography, which otherwise would have been impossible. Thank you for creating such an excellent site. I currently own a Nikon D5100 and shoot everything possible. Since my concepts are not yet crystal clear I would be needing helps and advises from you all,,,, Hope I shall be getting the support.

hi i'm kenbar and new to this forum lark! i have worked as a pro phtographer for 20 odd years until i retired in 1998. i only used
old fashioned FILM and am trying to digital . i use a canon eos 55d with kit lens plus two old canon ef lenses from my film days.
i have some mobility problems so keep my photos local.main interest is people and potraits. i use strobe lighting with umbrellas
for convenience and would like to hear from any similar protagonists!

Kenbar - we all were once, so stick with it. It can be fun - especially, I think, on a constructive forum such as this where the exchanges do, thankfully, rise above 'Wow' and 'Great', etc.

I hope CiC can help you get to grips with the wonders of digital. Film ... Digital. The skills to put a good composition together and expose it correctly remain the same. And I suspect you have have that sort of knowledge in spades.

I consider digital photography one of man's great inventions and love having a darkroom on my desk. Your website is outstanding.

Hi folks. I am Dereck from North Norfolk in the UK. I started photography whilst working in Asia, the bug really bit deep. Luckily I worked on a very remote island which was a photographers paradise. Since then I have never looked back.

Hi - Big fan of Sean's work since moving from medium format + Velvia/Cibachrome to Canon 30D back in the day, and struggling to get good looking A2/A3 prints. I can't afford a full frame Canon, so am going back to film/scanning. Having bought a Fuji compact with auto panorama, I've fallen in love with the format, and want to learn how to get the best IQ available to me with the equipment I have, ie. Canon 500 film body + 50ml 1.8 Mk.2, plus the 30D with 10-20 Sigma. The IT often leaves me feeling like a chump, but there's nothing quite like getting that print on the wall. Looking forward to being a part of it, Bob.

Larry - Thanks for the comments about the site. It's all down to Sean (McQ). But it's everyone else who makes the forum what it is, a real community of learning, where people share knowledge and experience and are happy to help out those just starting out on the journey of discovery.

And, since you are one of the 'old timers' who got their hands wet with chemicals, I hope your years of experience will be applied to help those who are getting to grips with the intricacies of composition, exposure, etc.

Hello everyone, I've recently gotten into photography within the last year, having lots of fun so far, every once in a while getting a decent shot. Currently shooting with a canon 60d, lenses include the 18-135 kit lens, 50mm 1.8, and a tamron 10-24. Still figuring out what i like to shoot best. Looking forward to posting some pictures and getting some critiques.

Hello! Time for me to introduce myself as I have been lurking on this forum for a little while now. My name is Allison, I am a fulltime working mom of two wonderful children ages 6 and 3 and having two small ones, has sparked my interest in taking photos..and LOTS of them. My desire to learn how to take better photos, and seeing that I have well over a thousand photos of the kids stored on my Iphone, prompted me to purchase of a Nikon D5100 as an early Christmas present to myself. Having only used a cheaper Nikon point and click Coolpix and mostly my IPhone, because it's always accessable, I am finding more and more that the photos I am taking are ok, but not too great of quality. As a mom, I find it important to preserve memories of my kids growing up because life just goes by so fast and you can blink and and miss something! Looking forward to learning as much as I can, especially the technical part of digital photo taking. At the moment, I'm just trying to figure out the manual modes
