Today we had an inter-school sports carnival with students in yrs 7 & 8 competing in their choice of tennis/cricket/softball/volleyball or water polo.....
so I had to get a few shots of each, here is 1 from the cricket pitch.
The host venue was where a certain member of the British Royal family once graced the halls as a student.

Carved Head
Dull with a few spells of hazy sunshine. So I was searching the garden for ideas today.
I don't know anything about the origin of this carved head. It was found about 20 years ago washed up at a small local cove by a friend who erected it outside his house. When he moved he handed it to me. It is now above the door of my workshed.
I expect that someone will manage to inform me that it is a voodoo symbol which brings massive misfortune to anybody who touches it!

Caught this jackdaw from the backyard in the morning before I had to go and await the arrival of a skip,I got some of it loaded and then the weather turned,very heavy rain.

It was, for the most part, gray overcast again today and very windy. At times we had gusts up to 50 mph
A couple of friends and I tried to play golf early on but gave up after 8.5 holes as it was difficult at times to even stand over the ball! I wanted to show the effect of the wind so I took a number of shots from my back deck which is sheltered from the wind. Its a shot of my neighbor's Caster Bean plant (big leaves) taken with my E-620 and 55-200mm lens at 200mm. It was shot at ISO 100, f/16 @1/3 sec.
Please, no comments about my fence needing painting!

Launderette Lady
I hope this lady doesn't mind me using this picture...(If you do please send a message to this forum and we'll have it removed...but please don't I like the picture!).
I took some shots at night of the outside of her launderette, they were a bit dull, so I popped in for a chat and took this...By accident she has a flower in her hair which I like.

Kay, there are so many shots of everyone's that I like that it would be ridiculous to mention them all but, this one keeps drawing me in. Is anyone else serlightly burnt out???
My husband has suggested that I try a DaD which stands for ...... a Dish a Day - he thought a 365 might be good. Anyway, I took a glorious walk at dusk into our back meadow. This is the best that I could twerk it in iphoto and am trusting that, someday, when I actually get PS, I can do something more extensive.

I really do like this - great colours and shape...but... I want the camera to pan slightly to the left giving a bit less space on the right. The flower is pointing to the left, so for a better composition I would have thought leaving more space to the left would improve what is already a very good shot.
Very good though.

Thanks Vidyadharan and Rob.
I took one shot but there was too much background clutter and given the beautiful day and position of the sun I decided to just use the slight back lighting and colour contrast with the sky as the backdrop for this one.
I know what you mean Rob. I looked at it closely when I processed it and I do agree. I am not sure yet whether I also want to add a little sky on the left, i.e. is the tip of the flower too close the the edge if I wanted to print and frame it? I have not had time to play with it yet - hopefully over the weekend. I will post another when I get time to work on it properly.
