Finding Fog, Fir and the Forest Service

I got a little wet yesterday in search of a good place to shoot fog close to home and found a couple of spots. I also met some fellows from the Forest Service loading up downed logs for future fish restoration projects.
I find the PP for all the green challenging so any help in that area is appreciated. It could also be the time of year - things go electric/neon in the forest right now. It is quite unreal looking in places - especially the moss. (love it!)

For some reason the photo dates in LR are one day off. Hum, the current date is set on my camera however. Can you change the date in LR? Thanks!

I do recall amending the recorded time in Lightroom when I had forgotten to reset my camera for British Summer Time.

Plenty of fog opportunities the last part of this week. You might want to reduce the exposure/shadow adjustments for the foreground and add some clarity for the distant mountains on #1 to give it more depth. A boost in saturation or vibrance would help on #1 as well. I love the intensity of colors after the rain. At least you had the motivation to get out in the crappy weather. Hats off.

Scenes like this are always a challenge for exposure, Susan. You don't want to risk over exposing the sky so that tends to make the greenery a little dark. Maybe you can get away with a little more highlight brightness but it will still leave you with fairly dark foregrounds.

Possibly cropping a little from the bottom of #1 and going to something like 3 x 2 ratio will reduce the amount of dark foreground area and concentrate more on the misty sky?

The last one looks good as a rather dark scene.

Thanks for taking the time to comment Brian.I don't think I want to go any darker on the foreground for this particular shot. I wonder if the leaves are a bit bright due to all the reflected rain. More light there does bring out the wet wood (I hope). Honestly I went every which way on the vibrance and saturation before settling on this. I haven't shot a lot of fog but it is a fine dance in PP - I personally like to keep things somewhat gauzy because it is foggy - I think I only used the dehaze/clarity on the snowy mountain for this shot.
I shot around Detroit Lake today and the colors were so intense and so muted all at the same time - more fog. Thanks again, Susan

They are a challenge and it was a dark day. I experimented using the actual bracket exposure setting on my camera today - we'll see what happens in PP. I will check out the crop idea, thanks.
I'm curious about what happens to the highlights when you process in DeNoise 6 - I'm just starting to use it and can't really tell much via the sliders. I read that one should pull them back down to -1.00 most of the time. Maybe fog is different.

Good timing on #3, Susan...You know those images of people that "touches" the sun with their fingers sort of shots...this one is in the same category.Anyway, I was about to say to crop a little bit in #1 but Geoff beat me to it. This is a nice series. My favourite is #2 I like all of them and glad that you go portrait in the last two. They both suit the scene. Good job!
