I love the color and starkness of this landscape pic! Thank you for posting it!
Thanks for your comment! Yes--roads can get bad--and it snowed for three days in mid May while we were there. We were unable to get to our real hiking destination since we only had 2 wheel drive. However my husband just rectified that deficiency and when we go back next year (or the year after) we will be ready!

Week 21--Rain Approaches
Still catching up. This was at Firehole in Flaming Gorge in SW Wyoming. Lots of virga but really no rain!

What has happened to the top left corner, Judith?
Otherwise, this looks good.

Thanks!~ I had not noticed a slight black sliver left in the corner when I straightened the shot. Ever so small but clearly noticeable if you looked. So I cloned it in and now it is complete!

Week 22--Pioneer Remnants
This shot brings me up to date as of June 1, when we returned from our trip. Our path in Wyoming, Utah, Idaho and Oregon crossed several of the many pioneer trails that brought brave souls west. This was near Three Island Crossing on the Oregon Trail

My best guess is a hay rake. Did not unbury it to assess. Probably pulled behind oxen or horse. Obviously upside down here!

Hi Judith ~ I really like this picture! It tells a story and brings back memories to me. It would be neat to see the connector used to hitch it to the 'power source' that pulled it through the fields. It is not up-side-down in your picture. This is the way the piece of equipment, called a "spring-tooth harrow", is positioned. The lever that is shown is used to raise and lower the "teeth".
In my younger years, I worked in the farm fields with one of these, pulling it by using a tractor. It was usually connected to another piece of equipment called a cultipacker and pulled in tandem. The cultipacker smashed the clods of dirt and the spring-tooth harrow smoothed out the ground to ready it for planting.
Hope this helps to clarity what you have captured in your pic. :)

Thank you for identifying it! I thought the curves were lovely!

Week 23--Play, Learn, Repeat
Taken in the week we returned from our month long trip and no photos except for grandkids! Not my usual posting ( and a cellphone photo at that) but the best of the week--and representative of my approach to photography! Will be back to nature and architecture as I finally catch up later this week.
