Monasterio de Santa Maria de Poblet

I'm not a very religious person and find some churches uncomfortable to be in. But this 'working' monastery in the heart of catalonian wine country was beautiful to visit for it's minimalist architecture and decoration as is required by Cistercians. It has a peace and serenity and a welcome to all. They also make some pretty good wine. I hope these images make you feel welcome.

I'm Protestant and feel the same way in old Catholic cathedrals. Particularly with a camera in hand. I've only been in one monastery and couldn't bring myself to shoot a frame

Really a nice set, Kaye. Great choice to go with B/W. That's one of the more photogenic churches that I've seen for a simply light display like this. If you have the means to do so it would help to correct the distortion a bit in the second image. IMO slanted lines aren't necessarily bad but the pillars in the second shot are curved near the bottom which looks a bit wonky. Then again I know next to nothing about shooting architecture nor about using WA lenses. Nice work overall.

A very welcoming set. A polarizer would have been a good choice to eliminate the distracting glare in the first one. In the third one, consider cropping just above the window. At the very least, crop at the top to eliminate the partial display of the dark thing. Agreed with Dan about the perspective distortion in the second one, perhaps caused by making too much of an adjustment during post-processing.

The floor in that first capture is very inviting, just calling for a pair of socks to slide across. Nice series.

My favourite is the first one and the last one. Like John I find socked feet will have a place here. Reminds of Tom Cruise's Risky Business movie where he sang "Old Time Rock and Roll".

The last one, because of the light ... I will remember this one when I come into a similar situation. Great shots all.

Nice set Kaye. I can't add to the advice you have already been given. I'm not particularly religious but I cant help appreciating the beauty that religion has moved mankind to create and I love to capture it. Enjoyed these.
