A great photo, Graham. I love the water droplets. They add movement to the pic.
I wonder why when I was living full time in Australia, all I see of the swans are black ones? I saw a white one just once...now living here, I can't find a black one...that aside, I love this shot, nearly missed the eye because of the droplets and I like that you captured the curves of the feathers at its body...the light at the back of the bird helps emphasized that a lot...
I haven't seen a black one yet either ,a lovely image and a beautiful swan Graham![]()
I have a picture of a white swan I took in Melbourne zoo. I cropped it neatly. It is so commonplace compared to your swan.
I think I shall have to revisit that image again.
Cheers Ole
Thanks for the comments. I'm fortunate to have a couple of families of these birds in my local area.
Black swans are native to Australia and are only found in other countries/continents if they have been introduced. They did exist in New Zealand but are now extinct there as far as I know.
Australia doesn't have native white swans.
Beautiful!
The only back swans I ever saw was in a Zoo - I only had a P&S at that time, and the pictures I took were just.....bleh!![]()
Great photo Graham! I don't think I've seen a black swan either come to think of it.
Lovely detail I this one.

Nice catch Graham. Like all the water drops.
Nice shot. There are times when back lighting can be pure magic. Well done.
I agree with Dan the back lighting is fantastic and you have captured the action perfectly.
