    Sunset on the Bay

Minor post processing; cropping and slider adjustment for shadows. The colours were not adjusted: They are how I saw them. f20, 1/30", 32mm, ISO400

Very nice shot, Joe...I am not too keen on large starburst but it works here beautifully. Excellent.

    Joe,

What's your intended subject? If it's the sunburst then I would have moved away from the ship, if it's both the light and the ship I would have waiting a bit until the lightsource added more highlights to the ship.

Thanks Izzie! I agree, but did not know how to improve it. For some reason I set aperture to 20 instead of 22. Perhaps 22would have given a more defined star. However I am wondering if it is a function of the diaphragm in the lens. The lens is just the standard kit lens which came with the camera. I know I get better starbursts with my Tokina lens, but it is an 11mm wide angle.

Thanks John. Originally I had intended to capture the sunset. Then I thought I would add the boat as some foreground. The starburst was a happy coincidence which I noticed in my viewfinder as I was composing the shot.

Really nice shot Joe, I'm not a fan of starburst normally but this one is really nice and works well.

Forground is just too dark, don't know if you shot in RAW but if so you could lighten it a bit. Maybe next time try HDR.
