    Dear John,

Thank you for the link. I could not get that one based on the different pictures I was seeing!

    Marie,

Anytime, that first image threw me a bit, the birdhouse opening makes it look like a crest.

    Hi Marie,

Definitely a Tree Swallow... Adorable tiny fast flying birds that I personally find a real challenge to photograph (also because of their dark blue and white colouring)... I like the 1st image best.

    Dear Christina,

I was impressed by some images you had posted a while back of swallows, and when I posted these pictures, I was hoping you would respond.

I am still in awe of how you caught them in flight!!!

    Hi Marie,

I've tried once already this year but the light was poor, I couldn't get close enough, or manage sharp focus on the shots I captured. I'll be trying again hopefully sometime this week.

Thank you. I photograph these birds at a lake, and on occasion a mated pair will hover in the air together. I think that makes it easier to grab focus (two birds giving a larger focus area and of course they have slowed down for a second. I'm hopeful that I'll be able to do it again, filling the frame at least 50%... dreaming about it anyway

I forgot to say that I think you did wonderfully in what looks like challenging light. Your focus looks spot on in on all of these images. The 2nd would be my favourite for the light on the swallows head but he/she is flying away and something about the 1st image is especially adorable to me.

    Dear Dave,

Thank you for confirming what John helped me identify.

Some of the pictures were so similar, yet different, that it was hard to pick.

    Dear Dan,

Thank you also for your input. Between these swallows, bluebirds and spring peepers, I think our spring has finally arrived.

Good capture Marie. I tried capturing Blue Tits a few years ago going back and forth into their nest box in the garden, small birds sure move fast
