Hopefully - as #5 is my favorite among this nice set. These are tough exposures and you have done well.

A really nice set, Matt. Your timing, settings and PP on #5 make this one really stand out. I like it a lot.

I like the first for the sun's direction on the texture of the side of the beach that forms your foreground...and the last one for the mood and those pinkish lights. I like all in this series but I really prefer #1 and #5 best of all. Excellent job..I hope you did not get sick from your ordeal...

    Thanks for the views/comments everyone.

Izzie: No, I felt pretty good today, had a long sleep and woke up feeling fresh! Must be all that sea air

    Well done Matt,
Again with this series, I prefer the warmer tone images to the last one.
I really like 1,2,3 as the composition leaves me with somewhere to stand, in that I feel part of the scene, rather than just a feeling I'm looking at a picture you took.
I do hope that makes some sense, as the art of landscape photography is a challenging field that I am myself just trying to get the open to!

Hi Kay thanks for your comments, as for the appearance of 'leaving you with somewhere to stand' when I take photos I try to take them from within the scene itself rather than as a spectator. (If that makes any sense.)

Absolutely it does & I think you've achieved that well here.

Good set Matt. The golden hour light in No 1 sets it off well and I also very much like the calmness of No 5.

No 2, 3 and 4 have scope for some further PP work I think in that you have the option to bring out the shadows to give the scene a bit more punch. Here's a play I had with No 4, simply raising the shadows in the foreground and on the rock, in addition enhanced the sky slightly. Again, stressing it's an option.

Nice work Grahame, definitely an improvement.

Local adjustments is something I need to start doing a lot more, where as at the moment its mainly "global"

It took me quite a while to move from just global ones Matt then I discovered 'Gradient Masks' and 'Adjustment Brushes' and it was a different world

Once you get the hang of those two things on something like the above image it can be undertaken in a couple of minutes.

Do you make your adjustments in Photoshop?

Matt, I make nearly all adjustments for the seascapes in ACR and believe Lightroom will do exactly the same. I have Lightroom but never use it.
