Wine bottle with a sexy neck

I just love everything about the styling of the neck on this bottle -- the shape, the color and the texture. The cover is made of wax and part of the manufacturing process is displayed here. The wine is moderately expensive and really good, the sort of wine I reserve for special occasions.

The winery is named after the winemaker's grandmother who co-founded the famous Caymus Vineyards. She died in October 2013 at 98 years old.

Did you consider letting the shadow off to the right be a little more pronounced. Would be fun to play with the shadow and make it into a female form (since you are going with the sexy theme) Or maybe a male form depending on preference.

Your reserving the wine for special occasions made me laugh. I have a friend who says he only drinks on special occasions; like not being dead. He figures he will only be on earth for 1/100,000,000 of the earth's lifespan at best. On the scale of the universe it is even more so. Everyday is a special day.

It is just a bottle but its clothes are pretty sexy. The things that can make something ordinary less so.

Some of you will have to simply live with the fact that the shadow will have to remain as cast by the bottle. That's mostly because I have neither the skill nor the creativity to render a male or female form, whether it be sexy or not.

I have a friend who says he only drinks on special occasions; like not being dead.

I have a distant relative who looks at her watch and proclaims that it's time to drink wine because it's "wine thirty."

Hey Mike!

Been in the shadows digging your wine jug shots! I admire you pounding square pegs into round holes! I also admire you shooting your bottles in a way that they are not consumed! All the wine I have ever seen consumed was out of a brown paper bag (I gotta get some new friends!)! I was also wondering if the “wred” wine glass required two straws, are they chemically compatible, and did you have to shoot that in a hazmat suit?

But seriously Brother? Great stuff. All of it.

I would only wonder if you are shooting these as a personal artistic endeavor, or if you would be leaning toward a client’s perspective?

This shot? The only thing sexier than this bottle in this shot is the beautiful curves of that sexy highlight!

Yes, I have a cellar, if that's what you want to call the small, white, refrigerated thingy in my sun room (also white) that holds 50 bottles and costs exactly twice as much as similar models that are black. It would have been a lot cheaper to have a black sun room.

By the way, the tabletop and background in most if not all the photos you mentioned including this one are the Translum. It will also interest you to learn that this shot was handheld. Not the camera. The lamp. Such is the life of making do in a makeshift studio.

The Translum is great stuff! I’ve taken to hanging it on a BG stand and firing lights through it when I want to use a diffusion screen (side, front, anywhere).

And I routinely set the camera on a timer and haul over to the set and use a handheld mirror/card to get a highlight/flag in the shot!

It may be of interest to you that while on my way back to the camera I also have the advantage of being able to check to see if I messed up my hair in that mirror while I was running over to get a highlight with it!

And by hair I mean singular!

A much nicer shot - why ? it has one of my favourite wines in it - Pinot Noir from California. But joking apart, I think the marketing works on this - the bottle is elegant and classy and from what you say, so is the wine - so these guys got the point.
