    Train Engine in Snow

Out this Saturday morning with a group of photographers from Picton, we went to Memory Junction in Brighton, Ontario to a small rail museum. Very flat grey skies and a light snow, not one for train however it a nice fun outing. Not sure how it would look in B&W, I may try one later on.

    Cheers: Allan

PS: I selectively sharpen just the engine and cars with a high pass filter set to 1.5, I use 1 if printing on luster and 3.0 on matt. I did not seem to be overly sharp, however on uploading it now appears a little over sharp. Sometimes it works and sometimes it don't.

    Allan,

I am not sure whether B/W does anything for it, given the flat sky. The red cab and front number plate just raise the game a little in my view.

In fact I messed with it in Nik Analog Efex and toned it a little. Train Engine in Snow
Hope you don't mind me playing with it?

I don't think your sharpening is bad at all, the conditions may just highlight it to you.

Allan and Ian, I like both. The black on white pops a bit more. I also like the toning in the second.

Beautiful image... (both). I think I prefer the 2nd because the details seem to stand out a little more, but both are beautiful.

Magnificent nostalgia Allan. I like being able to see the falling snowflakes that help put me right into the crisp weather experience.

Is there a chance for you to put a little bit of space on the right side of the shot?
