I feel that this shot would have worked better in landscape mode. You have excess backdrop above the subjects, but you have cut of the hand of the subject. I don't mind the glasses at all; they go with the look.
If you have trouble deciding between portrait and landscape mode, shoot one of each and see which one works out best later.
