In the present days I am very careful about this and I keep the adresses in a safe place.
I think it is wise to send the images to people so they keep letting us to take their pictures, don't you think so ?

It is also a good idea to get people to sign a photo release and pay them a bit of money in many of these very poor countries.

Regarding the self portrait. . . every ethnicity has its charms. The approach is different for more pale skin, but the effects can be just as wonderful. Most people have ancestry that has some sort of ethnic costume—if that is the desire. Otherwise, "modern" clothing is just the thing.

I like the portrait Antonio, enough said about that already. I did find it a bit on the dark side though. I am not sure what color his shirt is for instance, but I would have liked a bit more contrast between the darks and the lights.
Not sure what is possible with your TIFF of course

Thank you Peter for the comment.
Perhaps you are right about the lack of contrast... Anyway the mood of the image is somehow to the dark side.
I opened the jpg and saved as jpg which I maintain for future adjustments and experiments.

I agree a tad more contrast helps on my monitor. I think there's one in this thread somewhere....

Reading an article in Digital Photographer (issue 115, p32, comment by Gavin Gough) it was suggested that you buy services from the person rather than give cash directly. The thought was that it could build 'a dangerous precedent and does not build respect in either directio'.
I know I would feel more comfortable dealing with street photography in that manner. Rather different than paying a model for a studio/location session.
Thoughts anyone? (should it be a new thread?)

(earlier post was a bad pun, for those who missed it Sikh and you shall find).

Speedneeder - I like the contrast that you added to your cropped repost of Antonio's image. The original was a bit flat for me. I agree with Viana though... my vote is for the hand. The stroking of the beard gives the perception of deep thought... "What is he thinking about me?" Your suggested crop adds a harshness to his look - maybe it's just me but without the open hand gently stroking his beard it is perhaps even slightly aggressive. wow, people can really read into these things...
