Photoshop CS5 Upgrade
Hi, Need a bit of advice please.
I purchased a genuine Adobe CS4 through upgrade from another photographer it contains PS 6.0, PS CS and CS4. Works fine even updated when Adobe supported CS4.
When I purchased and we tried to transfer the licence across because the other party could not find his original receipt Adobe spat the dummy out and refused to pass ownership across to me even though we filled out all the necessary paper work, ( the other person had even purchased CS5 from Adobe) that is why he sold me the CS4 collection.
Anyway as the CS4 I have is not registered to me am I still able to upgrade to CS5 as I have all the legal serial numbers and software discs?
Many Thanks
Russ

Re: Photoshop CS5 Upgrade
Hi Russ,
I'm not sure about the legalities, but perhaps you should seriously ask yourself whether you need CS5. To be honest, unless your doing 3D work it offers very little over CS4. Sure, it loads a little quicker and some of the links are tidier, but is it worth the cost and hassle? I don't think so.

Re: Photoshop CS5 Upgrade
Good point what Chris raised.
Last year I only UG from CS4 to CS5 just for financial tax reasons.
For my kind of work in fact I didn't have to upgrade.
Since I'm using more and more the power of LR it's not that much anymore I use PS for.
Probably I could do almost everything left with PS E.
However this does not answer your question
When I did the cross licensing from Windows to OSX Adobe also excited for a copy of purchase.
Luckily finally I found it on a unexpected place.

Re: Photoshop CS5 Upgrade
Just a thought, but if the seller has upgraded to CS5 has he used the upgrade price option for his own use. Therefore any further upgrade price deals on that CS4 licence would be invalid?
Which means pay the full price or keep your present CS4.
I suppose the Raw conversion of CS5 is an improvement but would you actually need all of the other improvements, many of which are for rather specialised uses.

Re: Photoshop CS5 Upgrade
Hi Russel,
I had a similar problem recently with Adobe. My advice would be to keep the dialogue open with them until they get the message.

Re: Photoshop CS5 Upgrade
Thanks for the advise people. Mark we actually spent well over a month trying to get Adobe to listen but they just would not budge. Must say sorry to Geoff, the guy I purchased from did not go the upgrade route beleive he purchased CS5 suite complete that's why he sold the CS4 package.
Taken in what you are saying about the features that CS5 offers over CS4 and as just a photographer wanna be sounds like I should just stick with what I have.
Thanks Again for all the replies
Russ
