My son found a refreshing way to get a drink on a nice hot afternoon recently... Any and all C&C appreciated! I'm very much a newbie at black and white conversions, so I feel like I'm just guessing here... feedback on this particular aspect of this image would be particularly helpful. Thanks, Kristy

It would have been funny if the hose is facing the other way around... Summer is nearly here in central...you're getting some too? I find the conversion OK only...you know why? Because the background is darkish and unrecognizable. I would rather that you have shown some more the environment. And the shot is tightly cropped...but as I had already said in another post, I am just very critical this yawning...must be PMS...

I agree... Getting sprayed in the face would have been a great moment to capture! I also wish he would have looked up at me while getting a drink... I think eye contact would have helped strengthen the image. Oh well, I'll take what I can get. I agree that the background became unrecognizable when I converted it to b/w... I darkened the yellows and greens as much as I could to try to get the water drops to "pop" more. The background is just green grass. Maybe I went a little too far! Anyway, yes, we're getting the low 90s heat now, which is nice...

Very nice capture, Kristy. The drops of water against to dark background add a nice touch to the photo. IMO getting down on his level would improve the shot.

Thanks Dean. You have a good point about getting down more at his eye level... That would have been ideal! Unfortunately, there would have been a very busy/contrasty background had I been any lower in this particular location... I have to work on my forethought!
