    Abandoned Winter Beach C&C Welcomed

This was taken on Cape Cod a couple of weekends ago. It was a super windy, very cold day. I loved finding this lonely lifeguard chair... just waiting for the warm days of summer.

My only qualm, and it may just be a quirk of mine, it that I would have knelt slightly to get just a smidge of clearance between the grass heads and the bottom of the seat.

    Otherwise lovely.

I agree with Trevor re: the separation but, I love this image from the feeling I get from looking at it. It looks so lonely and desolate...

I have never seen a beach with snow. We did have some hail cover one of our San Diego beaches a few weeks ago and it made the evening news...

Looking at the chair again, I suspect that a lifeguard in swim trunks might get some splinters in awkward location from sitting on that seat!

I like the composition but I agree with Trevor about the change of angle that will have made the separation better. The snow is a cool touch...a brrrrrrrrrrrr.....touch...

I like it Kim. The colors complement each other very well in the scene. I jusk ask to myself how the surroundings were when you shot this scene, because it seems that is is a nice and isolated area. I don't know if you have any shots in landscape format, because as far as I can see from the vertical one, the scene might also deserve a landscape format .

Great shot. Very arty. I like the way the grass is leaning with the wind and as others have said ......SNOW??.... On the beach? Never seen it.
The thing that catches my eye and that I'd try to crop or clone out is the bright bit of what I assume is cloud in the upper right border area.
But as I said at the start, great shot.

    Dear Kim,

This is very nice. I like the portrait orientation.

How did you adjust the white balance? Contrast? The wood in the chair has a very slight blue cast that I can see. The sky also looks a bit turquoise rather than blue.

Its a smasher. A real advert for the beach.

Agreed with all of the above with one slight exception: I would want to see an image providing separation between the top of the grasses and the bottom of the seat to be certain that I would like it more. I can easily imagine all of us reacting to it as if that little opening needs to be filled edge-to-edge with the grass.

Great to see use of such a low ISO value, Kim!

Gorgeous image! Beautifully framed/exposed. Dreamy colours and detail. I can even see the sparkles on the snow.

Kim, great shot of a winter beach scene. Now if you just turn it into a B&W, the snow will appear to be sand and I can convince myself that winter is finally over and me and the pup will be at the beach chasing sticks.

Kim, I can't see any color cast in the image but may be my monitor is not a calibrated one and that's why I can't see.The white balance looks good to me with no color cast. I think you have a very slight vignette caused by your lens at the top corners of the image and that's why the color of the sky looks more saturated at those corners. It can be fixed with PP very easily.

Great image Kim, I love the way the grass is blowing towards the chair. Well captured.

Trevor, this is an excellent point. Something I will remember and think about for future shots. Thanks for offering.
