Onward to the unknown

This morning I woke up to a foggy morning.(pretty rare here) so I waited for it to get light out and went for a walk.



The fog got thicker as I stood there then let up after about 20 minutes or so. The fog was coming from the direction of the image. The American river canyon isn't far in that direction.

I was experimenting with the duotone function in Photoshop and this one sort of fit.

Mark since you are experimenting in "--tones", this mysterious shot could've been better serve in bluish-greyish colour, don't you think? I just thought the mood is great, the composition is great, now we've seen the oldish sort of style colour, this will benefit from another change to subtle grey/blue combination version....what do you think?

Very successful - has both power and mystery. This is an instance where symmetry works extremely well. And I wonder why, since such is not often the case.

I like the toning you have chosen - I have trouble with visualizing ahead of time the toning that I'm going to want for monochrome, and then once exploring options am overwhelmed by the infinity of choice.

Thanks Mark, I think it's the parallel lines that lead the eye that make it work.

The toning on this one was pretty easy because My favorite railroading era is the steam era.(just think old)

This is an instance where symmetry works extremely well. And I wonder why, since such is not often the case.

In many cases, symmetry creates a static feeling. However, when using converging leading lines such as in this image, the convergence is dynamic in itself and negates any feeling we might have otherwise felt about the image being static.
