    Gasworks 2

I had planned on posting these a week ago, but when I got robbed the new series went with the laptop. Luckily a friend was able to recover the deleted files from my flash card. So here is the re-shoot of the Gasworks park that I promised. If you remember my first try had a bad sky, disrupting background and poor perspective. I am hoping I learned something. C&C welcome.

Showing up on the first nice day in some time I found a photography club on a teaching outing. There must have been 20+ tripod and cameras. I found it somewhat difficult and time consuming with so many running around so will likely need to return for #3 shoot.

Yep, they so are. Especially nos. 3 & 6. Great lines, nice composition. Monochrome for sure.

That's a good start ! What did you use to convert them by the way ?
Note - if it was mine I'd probably clone out the people but that a personal (anti social) thing.

    PS good crop as well

Willie or Jiro is fine by me.

    Re: Gasworks 2

I agree. The conversion really made the image pop! Nice work, Paul!

I have the same pic sans people, just liked that one better although that could change tomorrow. I use Gimp for my PP.

    Thanks Jiro. Here is another.

Again for me a much stronger image than the colour. Just a thought - with that blue sky and the warm rust colour of the gasworks maybe a red, orange or yellow filter might produce something interesting with these shots in the bw conversion.

    Agreed.

Lovely stuff, Paul. Beautiful subject matter. Perfect for your practice on B & W conversion work.

I love this photo, but didn't like all the extraneous crap on the right and the road in the foreground...so, you know me, I played...but I did this before you started the conversions, so pease forgive the intrusion...

I also used a Silver Efex setup I made called "Chrome." I like the way it handles metallic surfaces.

No worries Chris. I like what you have done. It cleaned things up nicely. I had thought about the road myself.

Mary... or Lucy... either is fine with me. ;)

    Re: Gasworks 2

Fun photo outing, Paul I like the last 2. I always like different ones than everyone else. I like the B&W but also like the richness of the colors. I'm sorry about your laptop.

Donald, thank you. The learning is definetly ongoing.

Gerald, no worries. It is always fun and educational to see things through anothers eyes.

Mary, Thanks. I wish that were all they got. lol However I think...though it is the easiest to replace...it held much that cannot be replaced. Unfortunately my brand new external hard drive failed and I lost my back-up data. On the plus side the camera was with me.
