You guys have a funny way of expressing "Spring." Where da flowers?
Chris:
Flowers? What are these flowers you speak of?
Cheri: I think the only way I survive up here is to have selective amnesia every year. Once June gets here I forget the preceding seven months. I would say nice picture if it didn't cause me pain to see it.
And here I was expecting some beautiful wildflowers from one of my favorite places in the world, B.C. -- Makes me kind of nostalgic for my growing-up years in Minnesota . . . not.
We had 6 inches of snow last night... can't find any flowers other than at the florist or grocery store... not even a crocus poking through the ground yet.
Well, I hate to be all "nyah-nyah," but here on the California coast, my roses are starting to bloom --
We've had flowers- daffodils, roses, azeleas, camellias for weeks...I just took a walk - in shorts and a t-shirt...and it is 6:00 CST...so, nanny-nanny-boo-boo
Sorry, the devil made me say it...
I thought we were tough up here! I was looking on Google Earth and there seems to be a large snowdrift on the seashore just south from Panama City. On zooming in and looking at the pictures there were quite few people playing in the water, and even lying in the snow, wearing only small swimming costumes. We usually wait for the snow to melt before venturing into the water. No wonder you can go outside in only a t shirt and shorts if you are acclimatized to lying about in bikinis in the snow drifts! Hats off to you
Those "snow drifts" are called sand dunes, and yes, our beach sand really is that white. Sorry, I'm not that tough!
Thank you, Mary -- that's very sweet.
Well...my tulips and other flowers are still under a couple of feet of snow and the weather forcast is for more snow. Gotta have a good sense of humour to live up here. We had our little neice and nephew up and they loved the snow...they live on Vancouver Island and don't get to see snow too often. I offered to load their vehicle with snow, but mom and dad were not in favour of that...go figure.... I will post a spring picture when and if it ever comes as they say in computer slang lol
On the south coast/lower mainland BC spring is surely upon us! The spring plants are blooming: crocus, indian plun, hazelnut, red alder, and I've even seen some salmonberry blossoms. Oh, and the beautiful cherry blossoms as well.
hope you're having fun up there!
Thank you for the flowers they are beautiful. I will post pictures of our tulips and daffodils sometime in ..... June.... hopefully. Today we have a nice warm sun, but the snow banks are still taller than me still can't see the lawn oh well there is hope. The flower pictures are wonderful!
Our mountains still have lots of snow, but it is avalance season so many people have stopped going into the mountains. This year I purchased cross country skis for $15 Canadian, but the snow is going and I will have to wait until next winter....look at me looking forward to winter and it has just left
