Came in as a daily picture winner at www.apertureacademy.com just posted some stuff there last week because my students also post there work on that site. You can see some of their black on black, black on white, white on black and white on white shots...most did pretty well and as in any class, some did better than others. Clicking on their images will make them bigger.

Sahara, Nathan, and Adeline seems to have good eyes on composition. The others got the exposure right. Being a teacher makes it more fun to see their transformation from being a novice to an amateur.

Of course! Hell, your students are far better than me when I first use a film camera. They are even at an advantage because they have a good teacher guiding them. Up to now, I only rely on books and internet tutorials to learn photography. Hehehe. If you want them to speed up their learning curve, let them join CiC!

They will be doing that quite soon..we just have to work out some rules, etc. mostly centered around them not being able to post to or vote on competitions as unfortunately, I suspect there might be a little block voting taking place..they are, afterall, still kids. there next project is a real stinker...as they must shoot 6 photographs, all in reflection, all self portraits. One must be a fragmented or distorted (alter-ego, if you will) version of themselves and the other a double reflection where the camera cannot be seen.
Working out problems is as important a task in photography as learning technique.
